Care agencies extract billions while caregivers earn poverty wages.

Care.com, Home Instead, and traditional agencies charge families $25-45/hour while paying caregivers $12-18. The gap goes to shareholders and executives, not to the workers providing essential care.

  • Agencies take 30-45% of what families pay, leaving caregivers with poverty wages
  • No say in scheduling, client matching, or the policies that govern your work
  • Client relationships belong to the agency, not to you as the caregiver
  • No benefits, no paid time off, no path to building real economic security
  • Background checks and training costs pushed onto caregivers, not the platform

See exactly where every dollar goes

Traditional agencies hide massive markups behind opaque pricing. When a family pays $35/hour, where does it actually go? Cura shows you every cent.

How your workday changes

⚠ Through an agency

4Client asks to add hours. Must go through agency to schedule.
5Agency reassigns your long-term client to a cheaper caregiver.
6End of day: exhausted, $128 earned, no say in any of it.
VS

Voices from the care cooperative

I spent 8 years doing home care through agencies. They billed families $38 an hour and paid me $15. With Cura, families pay $30 and I keep $27. I actually feel valued for the first time in my career.

RJ
Rosa Jimenez
Home care provider, member-owner since 2024

When my long-term client needed more hours, the agency wanted to send someone cheaper. On Cura, Mrs. Patterson is my client. We decide together what works. That continuity of care makes all the difference.

MH
Margaret Hughes
Elder care specialist, cooperative board member

I used to work nights and weekends for an agency that gave me no choice. Now I set my own hours, choose my clients, and vote on every major policy. I went from contractor to owner and it changed everything.

Common questions

Need more help? hello@cura.coopify.app

Cura is a care work platform owned and governed by the caregivers who use it. Instead of a traditional agency extracting 30-45% of what families pay, Cura caregivers keep 90% and collectively decide how the platform operates. It covers home care, elder care, childcare, and specialized care services.

Care.com is a for-profit marketplace that charges families subscription fees and takes a cut from caregivers. Cura is a cooperative where caregivers are the owners. We have living wage minimums, direct client relationships, democratic governance, and transparent fees that only cover real platform costs.

We welcome caregivers at all experience levels. You will need to pass a background check and verify your identity. Experienced caregivers can start matching with clients immediately. Newer caregivers get access to mentorship and training resources through our cooperative community.

During beta, Cura is completely free. At launch, the cooperative charges a 7-10% platform fee that covers only real costs: servers, payment processing, insurance, and background checks. There are no hidden fees, no subscription charges, and no per-lead pricing.

Cura provides collective liability coverage for all member-caregivers, funded through the cooperative. This is better coverage at lower cost than individual policies. We also support background checks and offer professional development resources.

Absolutely. If you are transitioning from an agency or independent work, you can invite your existing clients to connect with you on Cura. Your client relationships belong to you, always.

Every caregiver-member gets one vote. The cooperative elects a board, sets living wage minimums, and votes on major policy changes. Day-to-day operations are handled by a small team, but strategic decisions are made democratically by the caregivers.

Cura is expanding city by city during our beta period. Join the waitlist and we will notify you as soon as we launch in your area. If you want to help organize a cooperative in your city, we provide all the tools and support to get started.
